The Huffington Post features an article by Filly Brown co-director Michael D. Olmos, son of Edward James Olmos. In the article, Michael Olmos talks about the "birth" of the film through the relationship he formed with fellow director Youssef Delara.

Filly Brown centers on the life of “a tough L.A. street poet” whose road to fame becomes a decidedly rocky one when she tries to help her mother get out of jail.

Last week the film opened the New York International Latino Film Festival after its stars Gina Rodriguez, a Sundance darling, and Lou Diamond Phillips just days earlier took top acting honors at the Imagen Awards.

Filly Brown's cast also includes Edward James Olmos and Jenni Rivera.
