Filly Brown debuts Friday in Park City, Utah, as part of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Directed by Youssef Delara and Michael D. Olmos, the film showcases the story of a young, hip-hop street artist on the cusp success, who's struggling to make the right choices for herself and those she loves.

The film introduces us to the Gina Rodriguez as Filly Brown, and she is backed by a cast that includes Edward James Olmos (who also serves as executive producer), Jenni Rivera, Lou Diamond Phillips, Emilio Rivera, and Joseph Julian Soria. Mr. Delara also wrote the screenplay.

Filly Brown is among 15 other films competing in the festival's U.S. Dramatic Competition.
