PBS presents the "Breaking Barriers" installment of the Pioneers of Television series tonight. Edward James Olmos featured in the episode which airs at 8/7c.
From PBS' website:
"While today’s television’s landscape is arguably as diverse as its audience, that hasn’t always been the case. From its beginnings in the late 1940s, American television was a nearly all-white medium., producing a troubling and incorrect image of a society in which people of color were all but invisible."
PBS notes that Mr. Olmos held a remarkable role (Admiral Adama in Battlestar Galactica) for a Latino actor, even in 21st century, and also made an impression with his role in Miami Vice (Lt. Castillo) during the '90s.
