Battlestar Galactica and Miami Vice's Edward James Olmos returns to Miami, fictionally speaking, for a recurring role in season six of the popular Showtime series DEXTER, which begins production in June in Los Angeles.

According to a press release from Showtime, the Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning Mr. Olmos will portray "a brilliant, charismatic professor of religious studies."

The award-winning DEXTER centers around a Miami police department blood-spatter expert who is also a serial killer focused on removing criminal elements from the streets. It stars Golden Globe- and SAG-winning Michael C. Hall and has been twice named to AFI's Top Ten Television Series.

Other cast members include Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar. Other announced guest stars for season six include Colin Hanks and Mos (formerly Mos Def).

Mr. Remar, Battlestar Galactica fans will remember, starred in episodes "Home I" and "Home II" as Meier, Tom Zarek's right-hand man.
