A special screening of Filly Brown will be held at 3:30 p.m. (central) time today at Cal State Dominguez Hills (student union ballroom).
The screening is a part of The Los Angeles Latino Book & Family Festival, an event dedicated to Latino literacy and culture. This year's event takes on particular poignance as California's Proposition 38 goes before voters next month. The measure would levy tax increases on individuals and companies to help fund improvements in the public education system.
Edward James Olmos has been a vocal supporter of the ballot initiative, even filming a PSA.
Last week, Filly Brown was also shown as part of another Proposition 38 event at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, with the film's stars turning out to show their support.
