Edward James Olmos will be part of a panel at the BLUE Ocean Film Festival in Monterey, Calif.
The festival, scheduled for Sept. 24-30, is expected to draw the public, filmmakers, photographers, scientists, explorers, and entertainment executives "to honor the best in ocean filmmaking, to learn more about the issues facing our ocean, and to collaborate on improving the future of our ocean."
Mr. Olmos' panel, entitled "Igniting a Movement, Leveraging the Power of Celebrity," will be on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 1:00-2:20pm at Golden State Theater (417 Alvarado Street). On Wednesday, Sept. 26, Mr. Olmos is also expected to take part in the Thank You Ocean, Ocean Giants and Q&A event from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
More than 100 films about the ocean will be screened during the event, which also showcases manned submersibles and includes numerous events and parties.
Other noted speakers for the festival include HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Jean-Michel Cousteau, Sylvia Earle and explorers Don Walsh, Graham Hawkes and Bob Ballard, and "Titanic" director James Cameron, among many others.
Mr. Olmos is spokesman for Thank You Ocean, which is a sponsor of the event.
