A triathlon is a sporting feat of daring and endurance, and it's what Bodie Olmos has set his sights on after his inspiring finish last month in his first marathon.
Bodie, 35, will be competing in the 2011 Strawberry Fields Olympic Triathlon on Sunday, July 17, in Oxnard Shores, Calif. It will be his first triathlon in 25 years and he is currently in training for swimming, biking and running in back-to-back events.
On March 20, in gusting winds, heavy rain and cold temperatures, Bodie ran the L.A. Marathon, finishing the 26.2-mile race with an impressive time of 3:23:11 and overall ranking of 589 out of some 26,000 runners. To make his inaugural marathon performance all the more awe-inspiring, Bodie raised more than $10,000 for the American Cancer Society during his training and the race.
There has been no word yet on if there'll be a fundraiser in conjunction with the triathlon but when asked, Bodie said it's possible.
Bodie is the son of Edward James Olmos, executive vice president of Olmos Productions, and Battlestar Galactica's Brendan "Hot Dog" Constanza. Bodie and his dad are pictured above following his marathon finish.
