Filmmaker Robert M. Young's critically acclaimed Alambrista! is headed for Blu-ray on April 17, released by Criterion.

Alambrista! was Mr. Young's directorial debut, and tells the story of a Mexican man who crosses the border illegally into the U.S. in order to find work to better support his family.

Edward James Olmos has a cameo role (credited as "1st drunk") in the 1977 film. The Blu-ray release contains a new interview with Mr. Olmos, as well as an interview and an audio commentary with Mr. Young and the co-producer, Michael Hausman. Additional features are include a 1080p transfer and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 soundtrack, along with the inclusion of the 1973 documentary short Children of the Fields, which Mr. Young also directed.

Alambrista! marks the first time Mr. Young and Mr. Olmos worked together. They have since collaborated in eight other feature projects, and most recently, Mr. Young directed five episodes of Battlestar Galactica.
